Takeaways from last night’s Society of Asian in Sales and Customer Success Event

Shout out to the Society of Asians in Sales and Customer Success for putting on an incredible event.
Linda Lin (on Maternity Leave)

These were my takeaways from the event last night with Jenny Kang from Sequoia Capital and Paul Huynh.

-Focus on building deeper value-added relationships
-Notice our bias- for instance when we are assuming that Asian Males lack executive presence and start practicing standing up for others. Is it a self-fulfilling prophecy or the truth?
– Asians are constantly being told they need to be more assertive. (Listening is just as valuable)
– Many Asian women are called nasty names if they aren’t submissive or if they don’t fit into a box.
– Practice speaking up
-Finding a good mentor will shorten the learning cycle.
-Bring the elevator back up when you have made it.
-When you need something it’s too late- build relationships first.
