What I’ve learned from my first month at Linkedin

  1. Support people stepping into their Authentic selves. Linkedin has big initiatives around Diversity and Inclusion. You can tell when you walk into the office; they promote diversity with the Employee Resource Groups.

ERGs are open to all employees and align to the company’s business goals, objectives and core values working closely with Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (DIBs) to focus on three pillars: Hire & Grow, Invest and Culture.

2. Create an Employee Experience

When you walk into the NYC office, the design and everything about the office streams feeling happy. There are award-winning pastry chefs, murals from contributions from employees, a game room, beautiful views, the layouts, and office space are spacious. It makes coming to work a lot more fun when you do not have to worry about spending money on coffee, snacks, drinks, breakfast, or lunch.

3. Give employees autonomy. We are all adults. One of our core values is act like an owner. It shows that Linkedin knows that you are capable of making smart decisions. For instance, there are no expense limits on meals because Linkedin expects that you can make decisions as an owner would.

4. Having family integrate with your career. For instance: Bring your child to work day. There will be over 200 children today in the NYC office. There is so much programming and thought going into today’s events. Bring your parents to work day;  I’ve heard its one of the best days because of

5. Culture day and Relationships day. There is a day once a month where the whole day you can volunteer, learn more about culture, diversity, inclusion, and other interesting topics.

Each of the 12 monthly InDay themes — such as giving back, wellness, learning, and play — reveal the essence of who we are as a culture, and as a company.

6. Implementing feedback. At Linkedin we take feedback seriously, where the senior managers will ask every employee thoughts, pros, and cons of your manager. I have never seen a company where you get to give feedback to your manager’s manager on a regular basis to improve and help each other grow.

7. Having fun. There are so many team outings and events going on every day

Volunteering and giving back.  Since I have joined Linkedin, I have signed up for two mentorship opportunities, where we get to help disadvantaged students and young adults get jobs, boost their resume and practicing interview skills. Linkedin makes it extremely easy to sign up during lunch and learns. (Streetwise Partners and Imentor) Shout out to Edwin for advising me to volunteer there!

9. Learn from failure. I already have been running many meetings by myself, and there is no other substitute from failing and learning from your mistakes. We have a culture that genuinely practices that, and I have grown so much already from this experience.

10. A place to invite your friends and family. We have a weekly happy hour called Beers For my Peers. It’s a place where you can invite your friends and family to come to hang out.

It works to reduce and prevent bullying, cyberbullying and other digital abuse, educates against homophobia, LGBTQ discrimination, racism and hatred, and deters violence in schools, online and in communities across the country. In this diverse world, STOMP Out Bullying promotes civility, inclusion and equality. It teaches effective solutions on how to respond to all forms of bullying, as well as educating kids and teens in school and online. It provides help for those in need and at risk of suicide, and raises awareness through peer mentoring programs in schools, public service announcements by noted celebrities, and social media campaigns.

Davidson was once broke, insecure, low-confidence, and frustrated by doing all the wrong activities. Addicted to drugs, validation, and wallowing in self-pity. No relationship to family, and at the mercy of other people’s suggestions and opinions.

It was hell.

After spending $100k hiring different coaches, traveling the world doing workshops around the world, reading>1000 books, and through curiosity, have created the most effective system to remove people from that situation. My life’s work is to bring joy and abundance to people who as on a similar path as I was and bring back the joy and abundance of their life.

Through shared experiences and storytelling, I inspire and model behaviors that lead to a richer, more fulfilled life full of joy, experiences, passion, and ecstasy from the richness of relationships and being able to experience the depths of the human experience.
