What I learned from reading Dave Asprey’s book Head Strong so far (How to improve your mind, concentration, and energy in two weeks)

Dave is certainly a very strongly opinionated passionate guy who owns a health/Nutrition company but he does back up a lot of his claims with studies.  As you all know the field of Nutrition is always changing and evolving so take everything with a grain of sea salt knowing that it might change in a few years.

However, I do agree with most of his claims even though if he is a little bit aggressive with all of his theories and statements.

He loves grass fed butter– he talks about how his two year old daughter asked for her own stick of grass fed butter for Christmas and during his story telling she apparently took a big bite out of it which is pretty darn amusing.

He talks about how great Acetyl Choline is for REM sleep which is actually the one I need the most. I get more than the average person in deep sleep but REM sleep is usually lacking with me according to my fitbit Alta HR. Shoutout to the fitbit PR folks! *wink wink*

He emphasizes the importance of eating a lot of nuts (except for peanuts) that are still in the shell and Omega 3-s. The ratio should be 4 to 1 Omega 3’s to Omega 6’s. The average American eats 20 times Omega 6’s to Omega 3s. which is why our obesity rate is higher than other countries because of the transfat and the monetization of corn and grains.

DHA and EPA oil is really good only if you buy high quality fish oils. He actually recommends Krill oil over fish oil because there is a substance in Krill oil that is better for you.

He talks about Ketosis and being in a state of Ketosis while it sucks in the beginning if you are not used to it. It gives you a ton of energy if you stick with it for more than 4 days! 24% more energy than normal ATP.

He did warn that your breathe is going to stink because you are releasing toxins out of your body.

Intermittent fasting is good for this. So a lot of people eat within a 6-8 hour frame so 12 to 6pm typically is when they will eat. You will then fast for 16-18 hours.

MCTs will help you get into a state of Ketosis faster and more easily.

Be wary of food allergies by going to the doctor get a food allergy blood panel. Your heart rate will jump as much as 17 bpm more if you have food allergies you don’t know about. Having a 24/7 heart rate monitor will help with this as well. *shoot out to Fitbit PR and marketing* once again. Cough cough.

Aware of restaurant fryer foods, anything that has an extremely long shelf life is bad for you. Dairy products are bad except for milk fat.

Gluten is obviously horrible for you because of the mold. He did an entire documentary on this called Moldy.

Wine from Europe is better, basically anything from Europe is better because they have much higher food standards.

MSG is the devil.  Basically from reading this book. It has inspired me to take a look and want to eat vegan for a week to see how I feel.

I will limit my eating dried fruits and be vary of the mold in other places, areas.

I will increase my vegetable intake and try to eat only wild caught Salmon. I already only eat free range chicken and try to only eat grass fed beef as much as possible.

The investment in your health and body will make a huge difference. All of this is why I became a Nutrition major (in my undergrad) in the first place so that I can make a difference in other people’s lives and help the world live longer and more fulfilled.

Purpose: I create an empowering context for curious and hungry people looking for fulfillment, experiences, and creativity. We do this by developing their growth mindset, introducing self-love, and powerful group experiences. It results in people with strong boundaries, resilient mental health, and practical life skills

People leave with the ability to land their dream job, have autonomy and flexibility with their lifestyle, travel the world, and create from their heart and soul.

Why:

Davidson was once broke, insecure, low-confidence, and frustrated by doing all the wrong activities. Addicted to drugs, validation, and wallowing in self-pity. No relationship to family, and at the mercy of other people’s suggestions and opinions.

It was hell.

After spending $100k hiring different coaches, traveling the world doing workshops around the world, reading>1000 books, and through curiosity, have created the most effective system to remove people from that situation. My life’s work is to bring joy and abundance to people who as on a similar path as I was and bring back the joy and abundance of their life.

Through shared experiences and storytelling, I inspire and model behaviors that lead to a richer, more fulfilled life full of joy, experiences, passion, and ecstasy from the richness of relationships and being able to experience the depths of the human experience.
